We are about to launch our first community fundraising campaign.
You may have noticed that it is starting to get dark much earlier in the evenings. The amazing, if slightly unbearable, hot weather of the summer is disappearing, the colder and wetter evenings are creeping in, and unfortunately it is only going to get darker from here!
So, we need to get ahead of it.
We have already submitted a grant application for equipment including a gazebo and new tables, but this fundraiser is for something much simpler: lights.
We are looking to purchase two portable, battery-powered lights with stands that can be positioned around our tables during evening collections.
If you have collected food from us on Plantation Avenue, you will know that there are no street lights where we operate. As the evenings get darker, having proper lighting is becoming increasingly important for the safety of our volunteers and everyone who comes along to collect food.
Without suitable lighting, we may eventually have to stop evening collections from this location until the lighter evenings return next spring. We would really rather not do that.
Our target is just £100
We are not looking for expensive equipment. We simply need two reliable portable lights that are bright enough to safely illuminate the collection area.
If lots of people contribute even a pound or two, we should be able to reach the target very quickly.
Once our fundraising page goes live, you will be able to see the amount raised and follow our progress towards the target.
If you would like to help us keep the fridge running safely through the darker months, head over to our fundraising page and make a small donation.
Every contribution helps us keep rescuing good food and sharing it with the Marcham community.
Waste Less, Share More.
